About these paintings and what they mean to me :

These paintings are about the kind of friend who understands what you are thinking without the need for words. You only need to exchange a glance and both fall into a fit of laughter, KNOWING they understand...or perhaps a situation occurs and you look at each other and just KNOW they are thinking what YOU are thinking ... for me, in these paintings, these two girls exchange a LOOK here which says ' hmmm, I thought so too....'

That friend who has your back. The one you may not speak to for months but when you do it's like you only connected yesterday. I hope that you are lucky enough to have experienced at least one friend like this in your lifetime.

That kind of friend... who really 'gets you' . Maybe you are not often in contact or have drifted these days, but you KNOW that when you do catch up, or have a text conversation that they understand, no words needed, just a glance says it all.

About this class :

This is a mixed media class, using a limited palette to create two entirely different, and yet deeply connected characters as feminine portraits.

I have included a supply list so that you can approach this using the exact same techniques that I employed throughout, and I worked on two separate canvases for my portraits. Using the same supplies is optional of course, and as ever, I would encourage you to substitute alternative colours and media according to what you have available.

The process and theme would also lend itself well to a single larger canvas painting, or perhaps a double spread in your art journal. I really enjoyed working in a smaller format for a change, but any size is fine!
